Six nuclear tests have been carried out at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in North Korea since 2006. International peace and security is at risk since new tests may well be underway. A new report released by the Seoul-based NGO, the Transitional Justice Working Group (TJWG), reveals how radioactive contamination from the test site is putting the whole region at risk, likely to turn up the geopolitical heat between North Korea, China, South Korea and Japan.
The report discloses the result of radiation exposure of North Korean defectors and export goods, and the results as well as the lack of state responses are worrisome. Join Fores and TJWG in mapping out the serious radioactive and geopolitical risks and how we best move forward.
